From Seeking to Savoring: Riding the Winds, Tending the Waters

From Seeking to Savoring: Riding the Winds, Tending the Waters

“You don’t move forward by forcing clarity. You move forward by turning inward.”
— Tonyalynne, The Courage Practice

A listen today as we recap for June, and welcome July.

Under the bright summer sky, the invitation to wade deeper into Cancer season’s waters. I’m personally returning to the image of the waves—of life, of service, of feeling.

Yesterday, I found myself out on the water, paddle boarding with the generosity of a dear friend. The sun overhead, the wind against me—not often graceful, not often with ease. Alive, smiling, struggling. You learn to be in it. Why argue with the wakes?
Then that respite- What it’s like to feel well used—in the spirit of aliveness—in the waters you cannot control. To be moved. To experience the felt sense of aliveness. Abundance.

This is the essence of the season for me:
Letting ourselves be moved.
Letting the tides be what they are.
And still, relishing in the space to be.
To soften, to listen, to trust that our spirit is always enough to meet the moment.

“You’re sailing between worlds, dear one. Between the old and the new. You’ll continue to weather the storms that pass by. Your spirit is alive, and so are you.”
The Moon Tarot

In my Monday practice, the niyama of santosha—contentment—was the inquiry.
How do we cultivate this sense?
How do we return here, orient from here?
Especially in this season of the sun, when dopamine-seeking can be strong—the craving, the anticipation, the grasping for the next thing.

What about the dew at our feet?
The worm in the compost doing its unseen work?
The wind in the grass?

When we’re out searching for the deer on the horizon—what’s already here?
What’s right in front of you?
What’s within?

May you move forward by tuning inward.

While we often welcome the seeker within…
what if this week, we practiced contentment instead? The enoughness of the moment without clinging or grasping? Without wishing it were different? It's not complacency. It's acknowledging the truthfulness, trusting the impermanence, and being fully present to what is. Let it surprise you. Open you. Enliven you.

Yogic wisdom recommends occupying more the state of sattva—clear and steady—when we can meet both a clump of dirt and a clump of gold with the same evenness.
This is upeksha, equanimity—one of the Brahmaviharas- abodes of the heart.
Spaciousness. Presence.

We are here to feel. To be stretched. To ride the waves.
And we can always begin again.

Atha. Now.

What happens when you pause?
When you connect more deeply within?

May this week be one of gentleness, replenishment, and receptivity
Where you can notice the beauty that’s already here.
Attune to the moments as they unfold.
Engage with the aliveness as it’s called upon within you.

Let us shift from seeking to savoring.
From reaction to reverence.

When we soften expectation, we may find ourselves surprised by the clarity and joy available in the moment. The magic in the mundane.

Next week we will deepen into Cancer season with Svadhisthana, the second chakra—home of emotion, water, and the sacred seat of self- radiant and tender all at once.

Place a hand on your heart.
The same hand that reaches, holds, gives, and carries.

Breathe in a bit more deeply.
Exhale a bit more completely.
Let yourself love into self, and return home.

Whether you’re reconnecting with family, tending your garden, working steadily, or exploring new directions, may you feel at home within yourself—like the crab who carries its shelter, always. Let your presence be enough.

You are both soft and strong.
May your unnecessary stressors loosen.
May your fires be tempered in support of heart-centered attunement.
May your practices support contentment (santosha) and space (akasha)—
welcoming ease (sukha) and receptivity for all that unfolds before you.

Let yourself receive.
Radiate, shine, and simply be.
Just as you are.
Just this.
This is enough. You are enough.

Here with you in practice.
In love & light,
Maya
