The Miracle of Earth: Belonging, Simplicity, & Letting Go

“The real miracle is not to fly or walk on fire. The real miracle is to walk on Earth. You can perform that miracle any time. Just bring your mind home to your body, become alive and perform the miracle of walking on Earth.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh
Earth Week blessings everyone,
Today’s reflection arrives simply — from a quieter place of listening and letting go. Life’s demands and the intention behind right use of energy — Brahmacharya — call from me a more grounded share, a return to simplicity. We’re shifting seasons now: from Aries fire into the rooted steadiness of Taurus. This marks a time to reconnect to what holds us, to trust, and to soften into belonging.
Let this be an invitation to return to Earth. To foundation. To what is real beneath your feet. To breath. To the sacred pause.
Offer yourself a few gentle breaths. Feel your body. Notice the rise and fall of your breath — and the reciprocity it shares with the trees and plants around you. Inhale into your belonging. Exhale into your becoming. This is the rhythm of life itself.
This week, we return to the first chakra — Muladhara — the root. The Earth element. Strength, support, steadiness, safety. Here lies your belonging- always to yourself and to this deeper web of roots in which we are all connect. When we root into this chakra, we’re invited to come home to ourselves.
This homecoming aligns beautifully with the practice of Aparigraha — non-possessiveness. A yama of release, of simplicity. Gabrielle Harris translates- that gra means “to grasp or hold,” pari means “from all sides,” and a negates it. Aparigraha asks us:
Where are we clinging?
What are we holding on to that no longer serves?
What are we spending time & energy on or avoiding that longs to be faced?
"You are already everything you are seeking. Do not try to become something else."
— Thich Nhat Hanh
Aparigraha- Letting go is both an act and a surrender. It is a clearing, an offering, and a reclaiming of your life force — your prana. Through it, we honor of the cycles of energy, like Brahmacharya- and of Earth herself. Not hoarding or possessing- a return to the simple and reciprocal just as Earth and nature, each evolving, and with potential in extending peace and abundance.
“I make space for new growth by letting go with grace. I am strong enough to trust the process.”
— Spirit Daughter
As we step into Taurus season, we plant the seeds of what Aries season sparked. Fire now meets soil. Enthusiasm finds steadiness. Inspired beginnings now ask for patience, presence, and trust.
And in this spirit, I offer the simplest of mantras this week, one we’ve recently been weaving in:
Breathe in your belonging.
Breathe out your becoming.
I am here. I am connected. I am alive. I am whole.
“Aparigraha invites us to let go and to pack lightly for our journey through life, all the while caring deeply and enjoying fully.”
— Deborah Adele
Let’s walk gently upon this Earth. Let’s allow space to unclutter, unwind, ungrip — so we may move forward from what no longer fits. You are unfolding. Let it happen in your timing. Focused and tuned, nourishing your bloom.
May your thoughts and words be kind, especially toward yourself.
May we have the fortitude to press on through discomfort.
May we not allow our energy to be dissipated in the swell of the world around us.
From both your belonging and your becoming —
We are here. We are connected. We are alive. We are whole.
