Hello dear friends,

How is your spirit today?

As always, take what serves and leave the rest. Regular offerings and resources, including a new virtual centering, subbing and soundscape further below.

We’re a few days into February, and I find myself feeling the liminal shift from nourish & restore toward something more like tending, unthawing, recalibrating - how we care for our hearts, our energy, and our inner light as late winter continues to soften its grip.

In the language of Ayurveda, we’re still feeling the qualities of vata (air and space - movement, sensitivity, restlessness, awe), while beginning to emerge into kapha season (earth and water - heaviness, moisture, steadiness, congestion). In simple terms: we’re asked to ground the nervous system without dulling our fire, to prevent stagnation while protecting vitality. Warmth, lightness, steady movement, and gentle circulation - in body, mind, and spirit.

This moment also carries deeper layers: Black History Month, reverence for those who have walked, continue to walk- with courage and conviction, and the ongoing realities of injustice, fear, rage, and grief in our world. Yoga teaches us that tending the inner world and showing up in the outer world are not separate paths. As Susanna Barkataki reminds us, yoga includes the call to social justice. It is both internal work and how we live our values.

We’re just past the Snow Moon, full in Leo - a fire sign - offering a beautiful inward enlivening within winter. Fire amidst stillness. Confidence amidst reflection. A reminder to return to who we are when no one is watching, when nothing needs to be performed, when we are simply rooted and attuning to our own truth.

This morning, I witnessed the full moon setting in the west — foggy, luminous blue — while the east began to glow with soft pinks and orange hues of sunrise. A living reminder of smṛti (remembrance): that light, prana, and source are always near — even when the fog is thick — and that we, too, carry this radiance within us.

February feels like a month of calibration. Of what I love Chad Everett’s naming of maintenance magic — tending the small things, the daily rhythms, the nervous system, the heart, the home. Not forcing change, but aligning. Not rushing forward, but refining. In yoga language: saucha (clearing), brahmacharya (right effort), and presence as devotion.

Another anonymous peer had shared- when fear, powerlessness, rage, or despair arise, we can return to Andrea Gibson’s words:
“Everything you are feeling right now, call it love.”

Love, in the abodes of the heart.
To this remembering:
Being true to who we are means carrying our spirit like a candle in the center of the dark — staying committed to our inner path, not separating from ourselves when life gets confusing, and protecting the unchangeable radiance that lives within us.” (Mark Nepo)

This is a heart-centered month. A spirit-centered month. A radiance attunement month.

May we tend what is ours to tend.
May we protect our inner fire without burning ourselves out.
May we move with confidence, care, and clarity.
And may we keep returning — again and again — to the light within.

✨ Alana Fairchild’s Solar Frequency soundscape has been added to the Coming Home Playlist today — a gentle invitation to channel inner light, radiance, and return. Let it be a place of refuge, renewal, and homecoming.

My offerings and February schedule are shared below – dynamic calendar is available on my classes page.  I would love to practice with you when the timing feels right.

In radiance and rest, with warmth, love & light,

Maya
