Rooted Breath, Radiant Heart

Rooted Breath, Radiant Heart
“Like leafless trees waiting for morning, something as great and constant as the Earth holds us up and turns us ever so slowly toward the light.” – Mark Nepo

Hello dear seekers,

As we begin this week, I offer an organic share from my heart to yours. I’ve been living into this beautiful wisdom from Grace Selene: “Breathe into the space between commitments.”
Breathe. Pause. Replenish. Love yourself more so that you may carry forward with heart.

May this space, this read, give you permission for that pause. Offerings for the week ahead at the bottom of this message. Thank you for your kind attention. Take was serves, and leave the rest.

✨ Added to this week’s Coming Home playlist: 10 min Musical Meditation for Positive Energy.

Relax your shoulders. Find your steady seat. Ground here. Allow an intentional breath, and raise a hand to your heart space. Simply breathe here and notice. This breath—your breath—is life-giving. It is both empowering and fragile. Prana, life-force, rides within this breath and sustains us. It is dynamic. It can enliven us, and it can also ground and down-regulate us.

Lately, the practices I carry forward from my teachers return me again and again to choose quality over quantity- or ego. Bring more loving-kindness toward yourself, and extend it outward—because all of us are carrying unresolved pain, unprocessed hurt, and wounds both old and current that live in our tissues, minds, and hearts. An invitation within our pauses and our practices to give heart to what is wounded and needs seeing.

The equinox season has shaken many of us. I've shared Virgo’s earthy calls for routine, ritual, and rhythm invite us to digest, simplify, and take small, clear actions. Whether you’ve landed solidly or still feel in transition (often we always are), know that you can always return to a single intentional breath. Owning that moment. This moment. Perhaps even the space between breaths. Even amidst volatility, false starts, pivots, and realignments—the breath welcomes us back.

I hold a tenderness for Libra season, as it brings me closer to my late father. In his last season alongside my yoga journey- I came to know breath in an even deeper way. Libra’s air element brings me to both grief and joy—the lungs, the heart, and the breath itself, so powerful, so fragile. Fall is often the prime season for yoga, the return to Earth. In October, my fathers birthday- I often return to breath as teacher for foundation. To remembering (smriti). And witnessing the intimate breath fade, the raw emotion sweetness and sorrow of a soul released from its vessel. Taking off its shoes. There is a sadness, a sweetness, and with it, an abiding appreciation for this beautiful breath that we share with all of nature—for such a short while in the miracle of our lives.

Breath is both a mirror of the nervous system and a tool to support it. Libra season’s air invites harmony, balance, relationship, something my father- with humor, compassion and strength- would often bring forth. As we move forward our choices, a discerning question I'm working with:

Does this expand love, aliveness, radiance?

In supporting that radiance, your prana- we can bring forward the gifts of the new moon in Virgo. Own our self worth.
From root chakra, we can get crystal clear in knowing our worthiness. When feeling disconnected, we can return to root and heart. Muladhara (the right to be) and Anahata (the right to love and be loved). These two are deeply connected, reminding us to claim both our existence and our belonging.

I am inspired by Sabrina Lynn’s work around the new moon. She reminds us to release what has ended and to call in the beginning. To plant what is true. Closing summer. Welcoming Fall. Equinox to balancing day and night.

Your own self-worth is the foundation of every creation and manifestation. Claim it. Believe in it. From this grounded place, change becomes possible. In Oren Jay Sofer’s words: finding roots in our storms.

So, rather than asking what more can I do? ask instead:
What matters most?

Jack Kornfield echoes this truth: it is the quality of heart we bring to life- to each moment- that matters most. Quality of presence. Quality of attention. Quality of heart.

This week, let practices that ground and support the heart guide you—quality in your focus, in your connections, in what you take into your body. There is much hurt in the world and within us. Whether you are moving one breath, one step at a time, or living vibrantly from your inner abundance and service, the question remains:

Do you believe you are worthy of what you call in?

It is said that when you know you deserve what you are calling in, the universe will deliver. It may not always look how you imagined, but as Sabrina reminds us: “When you believe in your worth, you naturally take the inspired actions that bring your visions to life.”

Self-reflection practice for this week:
What actually matters most right now?

Libra season invites us to build relationships—especially the most important one, with yourself. Claim your worth.

An invocation for the new moon and the season ahead, from Sabrina Lynn:

“Your nervous system is steady, your mornings begin with ease, and opportunities flow without force. Your career feels meaningful, your health is vibrant, and abundance shows up in every corner of your life. This love you’ve been calling in surrounds you, and you finally feel in alignment with your highest self.”

You don’t need to figure it all out at once. But you can get clear. Choose habits and routines that nourish your relationships, both within and without. Choose what truly supports you. And most of all—believe in your worth.

The right to be. The right to feel. The right to act. The right to love and be loved.
From root to heart, trust that your visions rise from this grounded place.

In gratitude to my teachers and inspirations: Sabrina Lynn, Grace Selene, Alice, Dena, Jack Kornfield, and the many guides and thought leaders along this path.

Fall is here. Let us listen within, clear, enliven, and strengthen our hearts- the sorrows and the shines- as we meet what is next.

In radiance & rest,
In love & light,
Maya
