Thursday Thoughts — renewal, recalibrating- and Saturday spaces! 🌿
Hello dear friends,
A Thursday check in. How are you holding up? Above- wildflowers with my partner & fur baby during a midweek break. For the locals, you know we've had lots of sun and with the returning rains, a great time to come indoors for yoga, to return to practices again. Offerings below- take what serves and leave the rest.
It’s been a full and vibrant week — teaching, subbing, time at the college, one-to-one yoga therapy, and small group spaces. So much movement, connection, and care… while also tending my own energy within it all.
April carries this quality.
A season of movement. Of adjustment.
The nervous system continuously meeting expansion.
You might notice moments of inspiration… followed by uncertainty.
Energy… then tenderness.
Hope and beauty… alongside grief, frustration, or even rage toward injustice.
Just like the weather — shifting, alive.
And so this season invites us not to have it all figured out, but to participate in life again…
one breath, one step, one opening at a time.
“Healing is not becoming someone new.
It is returning — to safety in the body, to connection, to a sense of belonging within yourself.”
— Andrea Rare
I’ve been revisiting practices lately — music, teachings, simple rituals — letting what is familiar feel new again. Meeting it with fresh eyes.
There’s something here bringing in curiosity over certainty.
About softening into the crossroads of who we are and who we are becoming.
In yoga, we can return to the principle of tapas — a steady, nourishing self-discipline. And with Tapas- the root tap- for heart. Heart-lead discipline and grace.
Staying committed… while also listening.
Tending the nervous system.
Making space for joy, even in complex times.
This past weekend I not only received in a strong, heart centered yoga flow with my teacher and the vibrance of the Yoyogi community- but I also found myself at a Holi festival — color, laughter, strangers becoming community. A reminder that even in a world that can feel heavy, people are still showing up for one another. There is still beauty. There is still connection.
And also… real life continues. Bills, responsibilities, full schedules.
If life has been feeling like “a lot” lately — you’re not alone.
When it feels overwhelming, may we remember to come back to nature.
Back to the breath. To connection and back to the ancient quiet.
We adapt.
We soften where needed.
We return again and again to what matters.
If you’d like to practice together, I would love to see you.
There are just two more Saturdays at Humberside Loft this month — a sweet closing of this seasonal chapter. The space has been refreshed for spring, and it’s been such a joy to gather there.
And of course, ongoing classes continue throughout the week — in person and online.
“May the sun give you new energy by day,
may the moon give you rest at night;
may the rain wash away your worries;
may the breeze breathe new strength into your being;
may you walk gently in the world and know its beauty.”
— Apache Blessing
In radiance & rest,
with love & light,
-Maya
