Trusting November’s Quiet Magic
"Novembers alchemy runs low and slow. Earth grounds, Water deepens, Air quiets, Fire hums under ash. " Chad Everett
The dawn welcomes us to begin again. This sattvic time when the veil is thin. Take in a fresh, intentional inhale. And as you exhale- Drop what you are carrying. Steady into your breathing for this short read today. Accompanied by Gratitude- Spiritual Moment soundscape from the Coming Home Playlist
How is your internal rhythm? As you pause, can you sense what your innermost sensations are asking from you? November continues its call to pull us inward — to slow down, savor the textures of our senses, and rest without guilt. This month invites us to meet ourselves here, in quiet presence, letting the intensity of transformation move through us with focused attention that need not rush. Scorpio waters. Whole hearts.
Chad Everett's words resonate for me: “November feels like that weird liminal space between doing and hibernating… rest doesn’t have to be earned, and quiet doesn’t mean stuck.” We have less daylight, but somehow more clarity. And if your shine feels depleted or disheartened by overwhelm or fatigue with your inner landscape- bring a hand to the heart and let Grace Selene remind us: “Stay grounded and trust the November magic you hold. You have everything you need to create the thing you’re being called to do.”
Monday brought both rally and fatigue for me- pitta energy overextended from Sunday even prep and planning impacted my sleep, nervous system and thus the morning that followed. Not recommended, but alas- reality. As such- after a full morning of teaching- the afternoon called strongly in me November’s invitation to slow down, to rest, and to reclaim my energy.
"The truth is, everything that grows needs time to be still. There are months when roots do more work than branches. There are days when rest is the most productive thing we can offer ourselves." - Paul Avellino.
Like the trees shedding leaves, storing strength for the season, we too can rest, shed, and revitalize. To take a sacred pause. Without the screens.
Visual silence. This can be uncomfortable.
The pause isn’t punishment — it’s preparation, restoration.
The world around us continues to shift, bringing uncertainty, intensity, and restlessness. When anxiety rises, Mark Nepo reminds us: “When we feel the reflex to hold on, that is usually the moment we need to let go… When we feel the urgency to speed up, that is typically the instant we need to slow down.” Take this as permission to breathe deeply, to pause, and to trust the rhythms of your own body and spirit.
A brief centering for this week:
Perhaps at dawn, or in a sacred pause, bring a hand to heart and belly, close your eyes and bring this mantra:
- Inhale: “I turn inward.”
- Exhale: “I trust the dark to hold me.”
- Affirmation: “I have everything I need to create what I’m being called to do — with focus and intention.”
I can drop what I am carrying to allow my emotions to flow. To return to my direct experience.
Join me to practice & integrate: pranayama to enliven and cleanse, movements to stretch, explore, and shed, invigorating practices alongside yin practices for the 2nd chakra, the metal element in TCM with associated lung and large intestine meridians, and focus on resting, digesting, and elimination winds of prana.
